# Limits

> How large a file, how long a document and how long a question can be on each Sharly plan.

## File size

Each file can be up to **100 MB**, on every plan.

## Document length

The length of a single document Sharly can read depends on your plan:

| Plan | Length per document |
| - | - |
| Free | About 250 pages |
| Pro, Team and Business | About 1,250 pages |

Scanned documents can be up to **2,000 pages** on every plan.

If a document is longer, Sharly shows **This file is too long** and tells you how long the document is. Split it into smaller files and upload them to the same chat, or [upgrade to Pro](/plans-and-billing/plans-overview) if you're on the Free plan.

## Documents per chat

One chat can hold up to **100 documents**. For larger collections, start a new chat.

## Question length

A question can be up to about **5,500 characters**, including any text you quote from the document. If your question is longer, Sharly keeps your text and asks you to shorten it. To work with a long piece of text, upload it as a document instead.

## Monthly usage on Free

The Free plan includes **5 documents** and **50 questions** per month. Pro, Team and Business have no monthly limit. See [Plans overview](/plans-and-billing/plans-overview).
